Tim and Patti Smith

There is no earthly reason why our marriage was saved eleven years ago. That we celebrated our 20th anniversary in October with a joyous second honeymoon cruise was only by the grace of God. We were both selfish, idolatrous, greedy and only out for No. 1. Ten years ago, through a major move, God got ahold of our hearts, showed us His great love and mercy and gave us a do over. He taught us many lessons that brought us close to Him for the first time in our lives. Patti came to Him first, which caused Tim to think she had joined a cult the change in her was that drastic. That’s how she knew it really was the Lord working in her heart. When Tim saw that change was for real, he, too, gave up his life to follow Christ.

"We are not perfect Christians, people, parents or ministers, but God still sees fit to use us," Patti said. "He called me to tell my story of His work in me as a wife. He even gave me a title: “I Do Over.” It’s my account of what He taught me right from His Word about what it means to be a godly wife."

Our ministry is in the making and is changing all the time. God is growing Tim’s heart to reach out to husbands, so our vision is to help couples through sharing our story. Currently we share with small groups at our church, Northside Christian Church in New Albany, Ind.

If you think your marriage looks hopeless, beyond saving or isn't worth saving, think again. God wants to make your marriage new, and if you put your faith and trust in Him, He is good and faithful to do it. He created marriage, so why wouldn't He? The Lord tells us that if we ask anything in His name according to the will of the Father, He hears us and will grant our request. (1 John 5:14-15)
